Support for Secession from US Highest in Alaska

Image
A 2024 poll found that 36% of Alaskans favor secession from the United States.( https://www.juneauempire.com/news/36-of-alaskans-in-survey-favor-seceding-from-u-s-highest-among-47-states-included-in-results/ )  That is the highest of all 50 states, and is understandable, given the distance, the lack of support and the lack of respect from Washington. One need only look east to Canada and see how the Canadian government provides support for even the most remote communities in Yukon, Nunavut and the territories to realize the disparity between how Canadians and Americans respect their more vulnerable citizens. While Canadians recognize the right of aboriginal First Nations people to preserve their ancestral lands, the US government in Washington is looking actively to strip our valuable natural resources and wilderness bare, looking for rare earth metals. These metals are not rare to find,. They are rare to separate from the rest of the ores and require stripping vast swaths of...

About Annexation of Alaska

Donald Trump has been floating the idea of using economic pressure to force Canada to join the USA. Ontario's premier, Doug Ford, responded by suggesting that the USA should forfeit Alaska to Canada. His position is far more viable and more beneficial to Alaskans.  Alaska's panhandle has not only been neglected by Washington, it has been abused. No services provided, but our natural resources are stolen from us. The primary highway is one that runs through Canada. We often access internet from Canadian services. Where we need health emergency service and are close to British Columbia, we find it better and cheaper to visit across the border. Our aboriginal population suffers from neglect and mistreatment by Washington while Canada's First Nations enjoy much better rights. Canada seems to want us, US does not. Perhaps it is time to explore options to being part of the formerly great United States of America. This blog will explore how Alaska can benefit from looking to oth...

Trump is Right. Merge Canada and the US

Image
Yes, that is correct. Trump is right. Canada and the USA should merge, but he has the order all wrong. America should apply to be part of Canada. However, the approval process might prove difficult, since America seems reluctant to embrace progress. Universal health care? We've got it. Universal dental care? Almost everyone is eligible in Canada. Prescription drug coverage? Available for free (or nearly free) for everyone who has financial need. Canada: 8th in the world.  https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/countries-with-the-most-well-developed-public-health-care-system?slide=4 USA: ranked last.  https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3633404/#:~:text=Compared%20to%20the%20US%20system,rates%20than%20do%20US%20residents .  Education? Free for K-12. The lowest tuition fees in North America. More publicly funded education seats than the USA. World rankings: USA 28th, Canada 19th, even though USA has more top-ranked universities than any other country. F...
